Pr Marvin Edeas, Chairman of the Scientific Committee and President of ISANH, highlighted the importance of the conference: …our aim is to “Highlight some of hot topics concerning polyphenols applications in human especially stability, Bioefficacy and bioavailability, targets (particularly mitochondria) and biological effects. The major challenge will be to elucidate the effects of polyphenols metabolites (and not polyphenols) in human; we need urgently to undertake clinical studies with these metabolites. We must link health claims to real beneficial effects of consumers.
Pr Edeas added we will discuss also how to avoid speculations : Marketing must wait the scientific progress and evidences. One of the examples is Resveratrol. I’m very surprised that many products with Resveratrol available in the market with a magic claims; however we didn’t have any clinical studies and evidences of their efficacy in human.
